Tunnelling work on the Chennai Metro Rail project began using two tunnel boring machines, according to an official press release. The Rs 14,000-crore rail-based mass transit facility is coming up in Chennai on two corridors totalling over 45 km. The work on Chennai Metro started in February 2011 and is expected to complete the tunnels and station construction by April 2015.
