Coal India (CIL) is considering a reduction in coal supplies to captive power plants (CPPs) operated by energy intensive industries, which account for 15 per cent of the country’s power generation capacity. The companies operating such plants will have to brace for a higher cost of power generation since they will have to bank on imported coal.
