The Delhi government, under its ambitious ‘kerosene-free Delhi scheme,’ has provided free LPG cylinders and gas stoves to nearly 1.75 lakh poor families. The Delhi Food and Civil Supplies Minister Harun Yusuf said this in the State Assembly on August 29.

The Delhi government has covered 1,74,194 families under the scheme till August 22. Rs 115 crore has been set aside to implement the scheme.

The scheme was launched in August last year to give free gas stoves, cylinders and regulators to all families covered under BPL, Antyodaya Anna Yojna and Jhuggi Ration Card. Under the scheme, the government plans to cover 3.5 lakh BPL and poor families.
