Dr GC Gopala Pillai has been appointed as Managing Director, Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA), a statutory body of the government of Kerala.
Presently he is the Chairman of Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation (KELTRON). He was the Managing Director of INKEL and Chairman of RIAB. He is the Director of Cochin Shipyard Ltd.
Dr Pillai was earlier Vice Chancellor (acting) of the National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi.
He has over 40 years industrial management experience. Dr Pillai also holds a Doctorate (Ph. D) in Management, Fellow of British Institute of Management (London), Fellow of National Institute of Personnel Management (Kolkata), Fellow of All India Management Association (New Delhi), etc. He has won many national awards and was awarded the First Life Time Achievement National Award by the National Institute of Personnel Management, Kolkata.
Dr Pillai is associated with various national level academic institutions. He was the Dean of Management Studies, University of Kerala, in 2005-2007. He was the visiting faculty of several academic institutions in India and abroad.
He brought in a new thrust and focus to the ¨Industrial Park¨ concept as centres of excellence from Kasargod to Trivandrum through the organisation KINFRA. Dr Pillai tied up various joint venture programmes with organisations like Marine Park and Rubber Park.
