The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is set to roll out a fleet of 500 low-floor electric buses. The move, seen as another step towards sustainable urban transportation, will help the DTC expand its electric fleet to about 1,300 vehicles.
The Delhi government plans to replace all CNG low-floor buses in the city by the end of 2025. Kailash Gahlot, Minister, Transport, Delhi, said that the new electric buses have an impressive driving range of 225 km on a single charge.
At present the public bus fleet in Delhi includes 7,300 operational CNG buses with DTC and DIMTS operating 4,010 and 3,319 buses.
