The Government of India is unveiling a major economic package for infrastructure building in J&K and PM Narendra Modi is expected to visit the state next month to announce it.
Sources said the Union Home Ministry has sought response from the state on developmental projects to be covered under the package, while the Union Finance Ministry would finalise the ÃÂĻmega infrastructure development program.ÃÂĻ
In this regard, Ratan P Watal, Secretary, Department of Expenditure, Union Finance Ministry, held a detailed discussion with the state government authorities. The state pitched for sanctioning of projects worth Rs 1.10 lakh crore in different development sec-ÃÂĄtors like road, power and housing and urban development.
ÃÂĻThe package will be around Rs 40,000 crore to Rs 50,000 crore on the lines of Prime MinisterÃÂīs Reconstruction Program (PMRP),ÃÂĻ sources said. The package will be over and above the Rs 60,000 crore award recommended for J&K.
