In Jammu and Kashmir, work on two vital bridges namely, Wussan and Ramwari Gund would commence this year. These bridges on completion would provide road connectivity to a large population living in the hilly areas of Kangan constituency, said the State Minister for Forests Ecology and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmad. To improve the road connectivity in the area, detailed project reports (DPRs) of seven roads have been prepared and will be sent to the Union Government for funding.

The Minister was holding a meeting of officers, which was held in Srinagar to review the progress of various road projects coming up in Kangan constituency.

Underlining the need for maintaining inter-departmental coordination, Mian Altaf asked the officers of Roads and Buildings Department to settle all land acquisition and compensation cases at the earliest so that work on the projects could be started at the earliest without any hindrance.

The meeting was told that work on Rs 15.11 crore Yach-hama and Akhal bridge projects is in progress for which Rs 2.35 crore stands released so far while the macadamization of Yach-hama, Akhal and Chattergul roads will be completed during current season.
