In order to develop the fourth container terminal in Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) at Navi Mumbai, the port authority plans to hire only experienced and financially sound contractor.

The port authority is adhering to the Planning Commission guidelines in this regard. The port authority does not want to select frivolous parties, said NN Kumar, deputy Chairman. The last date Request for Qualification (RFQ) is August 19.

The major port invited bids for the long delayed terminal project. The project has been delayed by three years, after a consortium of Port of Singapore (PSA) and ABG Ports, which had won the bid by offering to share more than 50 per cent of the revenue with JNPT, backed off from the project, citing several reasons.
