Karnataka gets Rs 1,299 cr to construct rural roads

Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, the Union government has sanctioned Rs 1,299 crore to Karnataka to build rural roads. This has been conveyed by the Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Ramesh said that under the first phase of the programme, 92 km of road will be built at a cost of Rs 82 crore and in phase two, 2,550 k m of road will be laid spending Rs 1,217 crore.

Ramesh, in a letter addressed to Siddaramaiah, requested the Chief Minister to speed up the road construction work in the state.
