Maharashtra has passed a Government Resolution declaring the formation of the Maharashtra Railway Infrastructure Development Company Limited (MRIDC), a joint partnership between the state government and the railway ministry.
MRIDC will work on railway projects in the state. Projects in Mumbai Ãâ most of them under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP) Ãâ will be out of the purview of the newly-formed firm. Maharashtra has got Rs 4,767 crore for rail projects this year, a 206 per cent increase from the average of Rs 1,171.4 crore received by the state between 2009-14.
