The Supreme Court has directed the Centre and state governments to implement strict regulations within six months to govern mining of minor minerals as recommended by the Ministry of Environment and Forests.The order could affect the construction sector as it uses minor minerals such as sand, gravel and boulders.The directive is applicable to all river bed mining in the country.
