While reviewing the progress of different railway projects in the state on April 23 Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has directed the State Revenue Department to expedite land acquisition for different railway projects to speed up their completion.Sources said land acquisition for 112 km Khurda-Balangir railway line (Khurda-Begunia-36 km and Begunia-Nayagarh from 36 km to 112 km) have been completed.
The project cost of 289 km long Khurda-Balangir railway line project, which has been languishing since years, has escalated to Rs 2,000 crore. Work for Haridaspur-Paradip railway line will be started from June. Land acquisition for the 82 km long railway line has already been completed.
The railway line project cost has been estimated at Rs 1,559 crore. Sources maintained that the project once started will be completed within three and a half years. It was decided that land acquisition for the Rs 1,200 crore Angul-Sukinda Road railway line project of 98.7 km will be completed within the next two months. It has been targeted that the project will be completed by 2017. Naveen also reviewed the progress of the Lanjigarh-Junagarh railway project.
