The Rangarajan committee set up to look into the aspects of bailout of highway developers will submit its report within a month, officials concerned in the government said in Delhi. The three-member committee is headed by Rangarajan, who is the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council.

The Union government recently approved a proposal for the postponement of premium payments by highway developers and referred the matter to the Rangarajan panel. The panel’s suggestion is likely to provide relief to road developers such as GMR and GVK whose projects have been facing delays on account of high premium — the payment made by the developer to National Highways Authority of India under the build, operate and transfer (BOT) mode.
