As many as three Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (R-LNG) terminals exist now in the country while the fourth R-LNG terminal is under construction at Kochi (Kerala) by Petronet LNG (PLL).
Giving this information in a written reply in the Lok Sabha recently, Panabaaka Lakshmi, Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas informed that the Kochi RLNG terminal may be commissioned during 2013-14.
The three existing RLNG terminals are located at Dahej, Gujarat (of PLL), Hazira, Gujarat (of Hazira LNG) and Dabhol, Maharashtra (of GAIL (India)).
Lakshmi also stated that decision to set up R-LNG terminals is taken by companies based on techno-commercial considerations.
She further informed that several R-LNG projects, both on the West and the East coast, are at conceptual stage.
