Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) has proposed to split the scope of work at berths 2 and 8 at Haldia to facilitate the exit of Haldia Bulk Terminal (HBT).
Talks between the two parties gained momentum ahead of the first visit of Nitin Gadkari, the Union Shipping and Transport Minister, to Bengal.
The port now plans to float separate tenders to move cargo from ship to shore; and then from shore to stockyard to trucks or railways.
