Provisioning norms eased on loans for low-income housing

Credit Risk Guarantee Fund Trust for Low Income Housing (CRGFTLIH)is established by government of India to cover advances provided for low income housing. RBI has eased norms for making provisions for loans provided to give fillip to low income housing which are covered under the new credit guarantee fund. NBFCs and Microfinance companies are likely to benefit by this move. They may assign zero risk weight for the guaranteed portion of the loan extended for low cost housing.
