Being commercially unviable, the Southern Railway has shut down the seven halt stations in Trichy railway division. Trichy– Lalgudi and Trichy- Riddhachalam passenger trains will not stop at Mandurai. The Katpadi–Villupuram, Tirupati– Villupuram, Katpadi- Villupuram and Villupuram- Tirupati passenger trains will not stop at Teli station. Mayiladuthurai- Tiruvarur and Mayiladuthurai– Mannargudi passenger trains will not stop at Manganallur while Villupuram– Madurai passenger trains will not stop at Meppuliyur. Mayiladuthurai- Trichy and Mayiladuthurai– Thanjavur passenger will not halt at Malliyam. Trichy– Karaikal, Nagore- Trichy and Thanjavur– Karaikal passenger trains will not halt at Mariamman Kovil station. Katpadi– Villupuram and Tirupati– Villupuram passengers will not stop at Mugaiyur.
