REC Commits ₹150 Billion to Power and Renewable Push in Tripura

The financing pacts will support critical power projects in Tripura, contributing to the expansion and modernisation of the state’s infrastructure.

Power sector financier REC Ltd has signed two MoUs with the Government of Tripura to support power and renewable energy projects worth ₹150 billion.

The agreements were formalised during the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026 in the state capital Agartala.

Under the first MoU, REC Ltd partnered with the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA), through the state’s Department of Power, to provide financial assistance for renewable energy projects worth up to ₹50 billion. The agreement was signed by Subhendu Roy, Chief Programme Manager, REC Regional Office, Guwahati, and DS Das, Director General (In‑charge), TREDA.

As the nodal agency for renewable energy development in Tripura, TREDA will facilitate project implementation, while REC Ltd will provide financial support to enable investments in the green energy sector. The partnership is expected to accelerate clean energy adoption, unlock Tripura’s renewable potential, and contribute significantly to the region’s sustainable development.

Further strengthening its partnership with the state, REC Ltd also signed an MoU with the Department of Power, Government of Tripura, through the Tripura State Electricity Corp. Ltd (TSECL), to support power sector projects worth ₹100 billion.

The MoU was signed by REC’s Roy and Biswajit Basu, Managing Director of TSECL, in the presence of Ratan Lal Nath, Tripura’s Power Minister.

The partnership aims to facilitate financing for key power sector initiatives in the state, contributing to the expansion and modernisation of Tripura’s power infrastructure while ensuring reliable and sustainable electricity access for citizens.
