Through FCRI, the Government of India has invested in an infrastructure that allows measurements to be made with integrity and consistency by holding and maintaining internationally recognised and traceable measurement standards and practices.

FCRI is an internationally recognised Institute providing fluid flow infrastructure in India and considered to be one of the foremost authorities on flow measurement worldwide. With more than 25 years of service as a resource to the user industry, FCRI can help solve complex flow measurement challenges by offering accurate measurement references and diagnostic insights.

Fluid Control Research Institute acts as the national measurement system for fluid flow for all practical purposes in India and is provided with an infrastructure of laboratories that deliver world-class measurement technology. It also provides traceable (National Physical Laboratory) and increasingly accurate and exacting standards of measurement in fluid flow with oil, water and air media.

The Government of India has, through FCRI, invested in an infrastructure that allows measurements to be made with integrity and consistency by holding and maintaining internationally recognised and traceable measurement standards and practices. The Flow Laboratories at FCRI are comparable in quality to international facilities in Europe, as has been proved through regular inter-laboratory comparison programs with National Engineering Laboratory, UK, CMI, Czech Republic, etc.

The quality assurance of flow products at FCRI are by and large carried out with reference to ISO, API, AGA and OIML standards.

Fluid Control Research Institute (FCRI), an autonomous Institute located in Kerala, was established in 1985 by the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises (Govt. of India) with assistance from UNDP.

Flow Meter Calibration
Did you know that FCRI carries out over 2,500 calibrations each year in Oil, Water and Air Flow Facilities, making it one of the world´s leading flow meter calibration service providers?

Here are just some of the meters we calibrate each year:

  • 200 Turbine meters
  • 500 Coriolis meters
  • 200 DP meters
  • 200 Electromagnetic flow meters
  • 150 Ultrasonic meters

Coupled with FCRI´s flow meter testing and calibration services, we also offer a host of flow metering consultancy services to help customers develop and maintain measurement systems. We use our expert knowledge in flow measurement to offer flow metering consultancy services in technically challenging areas, including:

  • Flow meter selection
  • Air flow measurements in large ducts at plants
  • Uncertainty analysis
  • Water meter test facilities
  • Auditing
  • Training

Flow Metering Audit
Independent, reliable auditing of oil & gas metering systems is essential to ensure that best practice is followed, credibility is maintained and the chances of mis-measurement are minimised.

A flow metering audit from FCRI on gas distribution lines will help you maintain best practice by ensuring that acceptable equipment, processes, procedures, management and personnel competency levels are in place.

For oil & gas operators, flow meters are their cash registers which tell them how much money they are making from the hydrocarbons produced. It is essential that these meters are as accurate as possible as a mis-measurement of the order of 0.1 per cent can cost an operator many millions of rupees over a relatively short period of time.

We offer both internal flow metering audits on our clients metering systems and third-party audits on behalf of our clients.

Training
Over the past 25 years, training and knowledge transfer has been one of FCRI´s core activities. In our role as the nation´s most sophisticated state-o-the-art facility of fluid flow measurement, we have a duty to encourage and ensure good measurement practices that are sure to come handy to the industry.
