In the first half year of this fiscal ended September 30, 2013, NMDC, the country’s largest iron ore mining company, has reported a 8 per cent rise in sales of iron ore. The company has said it sold 13.75 million tonne of iron ore between April-September 2013, up from 12.72 million tonne in the same period last year.
NMDC produced 12.89 million tonne of ore during the April-September 2013, registering a 5.31 per cent increase compared to 12.24 million tonne in the same period last year. Out of this, NMDC reported a 9.9 per cent growth in production from its mines in Karnataka.
In Karnataka, NMDC produced 4.44 million tonne during half year ended September 30, 2013, over 4.04 million tonne in the same period last year. In Chhattisgarh, NMDC produced 8.45 million tonne in April-September 2013, showing a 3.05 per cent increase in production over 8.2 million tonne in the same period last year.
Karnataka accounted for a 13.33 per cent growth to 4.42 mt, in terms of sale, against 3.92 million tonne in April-September 2012.
Chhattisgarh accounted for sales of 9.33 million tonnes showing a 5.78 per cent increase over 8.82 million tonne of iron ore sold from NMDC’s mines in the state during the April-September period last year.
