For the development and tapping of renewable energy potential in the country, the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy is implementing a number of schemes/programmes, throughout the country. A capacity addition of 11,262 mw against a target of 10,522 mw has been achieved from various renewable energy sources during the last three years. During 2013-14, a capacity addition of 640 MW has been achieved till 30 June 2013 against the target of 4,325 MW.
