South Eastern Railway achieved a 7.1 per cent higher freight loading at 97.70 million tonne of revenue earning freight during the first nine months of the current financial year (April-December, 2015). The major components that contributed to the loading performance were 53.83 million tonne of iron ore, 18.86 million tonne of coal, 10.59 million tonne of pig iron and finished steel, 6.36 million tonne of cement,
3.25 million tonne of merchandised goods and 1.60 million tonnes of petroleum products (POL), etc. Improved freight loading performance led South Eastern Railway to 8.74 per cent higher freight earnings of `7523.12 crore.
