Kollam Port is expecting more business opportunities as more and more major shipping companies are showing interest in the recently opened port. It is said that the companies will choose the port as an intermediate base. At present, about four companies have assured their frequent presence at the port.
OEL Victory ship of Shreyas Shipping of Transworld Group of Companies reached the port from Vallarpadam in Kochi, a week ago. It was its maiden trip and it carried containers of tiles, marbles, and other building materials.
The ship will visit the port once a fortnight.
With such shipping companies showing interest now the Kollam port is expecting more business opportunities for the cashew capital of Kerala. The ship’s next consignment is scheduled for November 24.
Sooryamukhi, the chartered ship of Kerala State Maritime Development Corporation has sailed to Mudra Port in Gujarat to load tiles and building materials. Great Sea Shipping Company will also berth at the port soon, carrying cashew from Kochi.
