India’s largest renewable energy solutions provider’s commitment across all 15 manufacturing units forms part of a broader decarbonisation roadmap.

Suzlon Group has become the first Indian energy company to pledge 100 per cent renewable energy usage across all its manufacturing facilities by 2030, marking a major milestone in India’s clean energy transition. The company has joined the RE100 Initiative—a global coalition led by Climate Group and the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)—which brings together over 400 of the world’s most influential businesses committed to 100 per cent renewable electricity.

Suzlon’s commitment spans all 15 of its manufacturing units and forms part of a broader decarbonisation roadmap. The company aims to achieve carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2035, and net-zero emissions—including Scope 3, which covers its entire value chain—by 2040. Scope 1 refers to direct emissions from operations, Scope 2 to indirect emissions from purchased electricity, and Scope 3 includes emissions from suppliers, logistics, and product lifecycle.

“This is not just a pledge, it’s a transformation,” said JP Chalasani, CEO, Suzlon Group. “Joining RE100 reflects our belief that leadership in renewables must begin with how we operate. Every megawatt we deliver will be backed by a manufacturing process powered entirely by clean energy.”

In FY2024-25, Suzlon recorded an 88.51 per cent reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emission intensity and an 80.7 per cent increase in renewable energy consumption. Its rotor blade Unit in Dhule has already achieved 100 per cent renewable energy usage, and the company reports a 17.19 per cent reduction in overall energy intensity compared to the previous financial year.

Suzlon’s inclusion as India’s first Gold Member in RE100 underscores its leadership in sustainable manufacturing and environmental stewardship. The company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance continues to improve, aligning with national and global climate goals.

With over 21 GW of wind energy capacity installed across 17 countries, Suzlon remains India’s largest renewable energy solutions provider. Headquartered in Pune, the group operates vertically integrated facilities and maintains R&D centres in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and India.
