Coal India subsidiary, Bharat Coking Coal, has raised prices of coking coal used in sponge iron making by a minimum of 20 per cent. It has also linked prices of premium grades of coking coal with the import prices.
CIL, SCCL earn Rs.30,000 cr
The state-owned CIL and Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL) have earned incremental revenues of around Rs.30,000 crore through e-auction, Mjunction Services, a JV between Tata Steel and SAIL that pioneers in e-auction services, said.

There is tremendous scope for contract opportunities in coal material handling equipments because of rising demand for coal. The board of Coal India (CIL) decided not to sign any more Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for supply of coal to power firms after December. As of now, CIL is said to be supplying about 49 million tonne of coal through MoU route and this is said to be one of the reasons why power utilities are hesitant to sign fuel supply agreements (FSA).
