By linking all district headquarters of Bihar with the State capital Patna, the State government has registered a significant achievement. Now, from any district headquarter town in the state, it takes maximum six hours by road to reach Patna.

IWAI transport terminal ready at Kolkata port
A transport terminal of the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) at Garden Reach Jetty-2 in Kolkatta Port Trust is ready.
Kolkata being a transportation hub on the Ganga, the new terminal would serve Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and the North-Eastern Region.
Ten-year plan ready for Bihar power transmission
To augment and strengthen power transmission network in Bihar, the state government has prepared a master plan for the next 10 years. Under the plan, various works have been identified in the light of projected demand for power. Bihar expects power availability in the state to go up to 6,000 MW by the end of the current 12th Plan period in 2017 from about 2,000 MW at present.
WB loan for rural roads
The World Bank has approved a loan of $500 million loan for road projects in the backward areas in India. The World Bank loan will focus on three low-income states - Rajasthan, Bihar and Orissa - and on less developed regions in Karnataka and West Bengal. ADB Lends $300 m for Highway Project in Bihar
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Central Government signed an agreement for $300 million in additional loan to upgrade 254 km of severely deteriorated highways in northern and southern Bihar.
Bihar highways to be upgraded at $300 mn ADB loan
To upgrade 254 kilometres of highways, which are in a very bad condition in northern and southern Bihar, the Union government has signed an agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for $300 million additional loan. The additional financing for the ongoing Bihar State Highways-II Project will widen the sections of existing four highways to two lanes, build and maintain bridges and repair the pavements.
Centre to sanction Rs 4,130 cr to Bihar for rural roads
The Union Rural Development Ministry has approved Rs 4,130 crore for construction of 5,700 km of rural roads in Bihar. The amount okayed by the centre is said to be the highest allotment for the State in the past 12 years. The decision to allot the amount under Prime Minister Gramin Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) in the current financial year was taken by the ministry in July, Union Minister Jairam Ramesh said in Patna.
Rail projects in Karnataka get additional Rs 6 bn funds
In 2013-14, the central government would spend an additional Rs 300 crore on railway projects in Karnataka, while the state government would contribute an equivalent amount for these projects. Thus, a total of Rs 600 crore would be spent on rail projects in the state during the current financial year over and above what was budgeted. The Union Railway budget 2013-14 allocated Rs 900 crore for rail projects in the state. Including electrification and doubling of tracks, it would top Rs 1200 Rs 1
Bihar to build 50,000 km roads
Bihar government will construct a network of 50,000 km of roads in the next five years, said Rural Works Department Minister Bhim Singh. Presenting the annual report of his department, Singh said while 11 districts are covered under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)
