For maintenance and improvement of its State highways, the Uttar Pradesh government has sought Rs 2,500 crore as assistance from the Centre. The State government has asked Union Road Transport and Highways Ministry to release the required funds immediately.

Odisha plans to build 4,227.69 km rural roads
Odisha government has submitted the Centre a project proposal of Rs 2112.72 crore and Rs 595.72 crore for construction of 4,227.69 km of roads and 140 bridges respectively under the Pradhanmanthri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) in the current 2013-14 financial year.
MoEF to consider clearances for Kerala’s 3 key projects

Haryana seeks Centre’s nod for 4 new road projects
For four new mega projects of road network and sewerage system for Faridabad, the Haryana government has sought Centre's nod. The project work
is involving an estimated cost of Rs 495.13 crore. The approval has been sought under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). This was informed in second meeting of State-level Steering Committee on JNNURM chaired by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda in Chandigarh on August 1.
24 highway projects fail to take off, seek bailout
Of the 27 high-density national highway corridor projects awarded two year back to road developers by the Centre, 24 sections have failed to take off due to different reasons, including delays in environmental clearances and land acquisition. Maharashtra will get around 15,000 micro-ATMs from the Centre with an aim to facilitate financial inclusion of people from remote areas in the state. J-K to seek Rs 582-cr from Centre for roads and buildings
For its roads and buildings sector, Jammu and Kashmir government would seek Rs 568.92 crore from the Centre towards completion of several ongoing projects. The decision to apply for central aid under the State Plan Assistance (SPA) scheme was taken at a high-level meeting in Srinagar on May 29. Centre offers loan to Nhava-Sewri sea link project
In Mumbai, the Rs 9,630-crore sea link project to connect peninsular Mumbai with Navi Mumbai has moved a step closer to reality with the Centre offering a loan to the project's developer to cover any financial shortfall. Delayed by at least 10 years, work on the Nhava-Sewri sea link project, also known as Mumbai trans harbour link (MTHL), is now expected to start by the year-end or early next year.
Bangalore may get congestion pricing policy
Taking note of the Bangalore's excessive traffic problems, the Centre has sent a proposal notification to the Karnataka government to implement congestion pricing policy to ensure the Indian ITcity is free from excessive motorisation. If it is implemented a peak-hour ride though the city's Central Business District (CBD) may soon come at a price for motorists.
