Coal ministry to allocate alternative block to Odisha
The Coal Ministry has agreed to Odisha´s proposal to allocate an alternative coal block to Odisha Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (OPTCL) for its 2,400-MW coal-based power plant proposed near Dhenkanal.

It will be a game changer in the sense of providing a platform for transparent auctions of coal blocks. These blocks were earlier allocated in such a manner that the Supreme Court and other agencies had concerns over its allocations, leading to its cancellation.
Coal auction proceeds to cross Rs.2 lakh crore
Proceeds from the ongoing coal block auctions are likely to cross Rs 2 lakh crore, surpassing CAG´s estimate of Rs 1.86 lakh crore loss on account of the allocation of blocks without auction during the UPA regime.
