As per the data of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), budget airline IndiGo has widened its lead over rivals. IndiGo touched a 29.8 per cent market share, the highest since its 2006 launch. Jet Airways (India), which used to be market leader for many years together with subsidiary Jet Konnect, was second at 22.6 per cent.

New regulator to replace DGCA
The Union government is planning a new aviation regulator to replace the present Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). To facilitate formation of the new aviation regulator a bill is likely to be tabled in the Parliament in the next part of the Budget Session starting later this month.
SC prodded DGCA to examine air tickets’ tariff structure
Following the Supreme Court's direction, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) would look into the tariff structure of Indian airlines. The SC's direction was in view of the wide range of the base prices of air tickets. The apex court observed that the price bands were too wide and directed the DGCA to examine the matter.
AAI demands Kingfisher to pay dues
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been urged not to revoke Kingfisher Airlines licence until the debt-ridden carrier clears dues of Rs 273 crore to the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The DGCA has suspended KFA's licence on grounds of operational inefficiencies.
