Gopalpur Port to reopen by Aug 30
The Gopalpur Port is likely to restart operations from August 30, said Commerce and Transport Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi. The port was closed after cyclone Phailin which struck Odisha coast on October 12, 2013.

Jindal’s proposal to buy stake in Gopalpur port rejected
Odisha Commerce Minister Subrat Tarai has stated that the Odisha government on August 30 rejected a proposal by Jindal Steel and Power (JSPL) to acquire 49 per cent stake in Gopalpur Ports (GPL) in the state. Citing the State's Law Department's report, he said that the Gopalpur port could not be transferred before its operation for at least three years.
GPL to begin full-fledged operation soon
Gopalpur Port (GPL) would begin full-fledged operation within a month after rectification of defects, if any, following the test run, a top official of the port said. Since 2010, the port operation had been stopped for its upgradation to an all weather port. Before 2010, the port, located at Arjeepalli was functioning as a seasonal port
