Defence major Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) on April 1 reported a turnover of Rs 14,316 crore for the financial year 2012-13, with a profit before tax of Rs 3,471 crore.
Announcing the provisional figures in Bangalore, the company declared an interim dividend to the tune of Rs 823 crore, 683 per cent of equity base of Rs 120.50 crore. The company said its performance is expected to earn it the 'excellent' score under the MoU with Government of India for the year.

After Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) approached the Centre seeking its nod to restart civilian aircraft operations from its airport, chorus in support of reopening the facility is growing. Industry representatives, former bureaucrats, aviation experts, the CMÂ’s advisor on urban affairs and a minister opine that Bangalore needs two airports. The HAL airport that had handled a large number of passengers a year before its closure is now used only for defence and VVIP flights.
