The Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik met M. Venkaiah Naidu, the Union Minister of Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation (HUPA) and Parliamentary Affairs in New Delhi on June 3, 2014. M. Venkaiah Naidu assured the Chief Minister all possible help and cooperation of his ministry in the implementation of the projects. The Minister also mentioned that any pending release of funds to the State will be expedited.

CS Verma, Chairman of NMDC informed media persons that the Russian company Severstal did not show much interest on the 3 million-tonne-a-year steel plant project and hence the former may implement it as an NMDC-only project.
