A meeting of the Steering Group appointed by the Prime Minister to accelerate Infrastructure Investment in its first meeting has finalized deadlines with time lines for the intermediate steps for key infrastructure projects.

The progress on the intermediate steps will be monitored on a regular basis. The deadlines will ensure that Ministries or Departments are clear about not just the overall deadline but also all the intermediate steps that need to be completed so that there are no slippages.

Following are the outcomes of the meeting:

i) Mumbai Elevated Rail Corridor Project: The issue of whether the RFQ will be reissued will be resolved by M/o Railways within a week.

ii) Eastern DFC: M/o Railways will provide exact timelines on completion of the Khurja-Kanpur, Kanpur-Mughalsarai and Mughalsarai-Sonnagar stretches. On the Ludhiana-Dadri stretch for which funding has yet to be fully tied up, the Steering Group will review the matter in 4 weeks, after the committee on financing projects in Railways completes its work.

iii) Expressways: While pursuing the three Expressways mentioned by MoRTH (Eastern Peripheral, Delhi-Meerut, Mumbai-Vadodara), MoRTH will also work on the financial model for the Delhi – Jaipur Expressway. The pre-
feasibility will be completed by August 15, 2013 and the progress on this will also be monitored for early award.
