The Shiradi Ghat road stretch on Mangalore-Bangalore national highway in Karnataka will become motorable before the next monsoon if the work on the stretch goes as per the plan. The Union government has sanctioned Rs 94 crore for the road project.
HSL in Vizag flags off 2 tugs to Navy in Karwar
In Visakhapatnam, Hindustan Shipyard (HSL) flagged off two 50-tonne bollard pull tugs MT Dhiraj and MT Sahas on December 4th evening. The two tugs are to reach their home port and the naval base at Karwar in Karnataka.
Belgaum airport upgrade
Belgaum airport in Karnataka is set to be upgraded. The existing runway in the airport will be extended to 1,830 m. The Union government has granted Rs 293 crore for the airport upgradation work. To make way for ATR-72 flights, the airport will be upgraded. ATR-72 flight has a capacity to accommodate 78 passengers and once the runway is stretched, more flights can be introduced from Belgaum.
Karnataka to give Rs 8,000 cr farm loans
The Karnataka government has decided to give loans of Rs 8,000 crore to 20 lakh farmers in the state, said the State Co-operation Minister HS Mahadeva Prasad on November 17. The State government has already covered 10.50 lakh farmers and distributed Rs 4,400 crore.
First oil storage facility to be commissioned in Jan
The Union government is to commission one of its three proposed strategic oil storage facilities in Visakhapatnam next January. This is going to be the country's first such crude oil storage facility. The other two crude oil storage centres are being built at Mangalore and Padur in Karnataka.
