CM to evaluate Kochi metro progress on Oct 30
The progress on Kochi Metro rail project will evaluated by Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on October 30. The CM's evaluation programme was earlier scheduled on October 26. He will also discuss development plans for Kochi City to be implemented along with the metro construction.

More tiled roads to Kochi city
Kochi city in Kerala will have more tiled roads. To solve the issue of damage to roads soon after resurfacing, the Cochin Municipal Corporation authorities have decided to re-lay more city roads in the city by using tiles. The civic body has found that tiled roads in different parts of the city have remained intact even during heavy rains. Hence, the Corporation is planning to resurface other stretches, where there is a high vehicle density, with tiles.
Kerala govt to decide on Kochi flyovers within a fortnight
The Kerala government will soon decide on constructing flyovers at the extremely congested Vyttila, Palarivattom and Kundanoor junctions in Kochi city, the State Minister for Public Works VK Ebrahim Kunju said on May 27. The State Cabinet will decide it within a fortnight. As for the Edappally flyover, the DMRC is expected to begin work within four months and complete it within 18 months, he said, following a PWD review meeting held in Kochi on May 27.

In Kerala's Kochi city, work on the Edappally flyover will begin in four months, the State Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said. All the paper work would be ready in two weeksÂ’ time. The State government would formulate a special package to overcome hurdles in acquiring land for infrastructure projects, Chandy said. The package will include relaxing of building rules for those who surrender land free of cost.
Kerala takes up major road projects for Kochi city
Kerala government has taken up four major road and building projects that would contribute to the development of Kochi city. Work on the projects were scheduled to begin on May 22. This will include the Rs 660-crore Seaport-Airport Road second phase development, four-laning of the present road; construction of the Roads and Bridges Development Corporation Kerala office and shopping mall and the construction of the first concrete road.

Widening of the Banerji Road in Kochi city will be taken up by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on February 18 as part of the next phase of preparatory works for Kochi Metro. The contractors engaged for the road work have already started mobilising resources required to execute the work.
