Union Minister of Railways Mallikarjun Kharge has stated that Indian Railways has decided to construct road overbridges (RoBs) at level-crossings based on feasibility studies. The RoBs would be commissioned wherever train-vehicle unit is greater than one lakh count, he added. Kharge was in Puducherry in connection with the launch of the new TirupatiĆāPuducherry weekly express on September 17.

Proposal to build 2 road under bridges remains on paper
Four years after holding public hearings, the Tamil Nadu State Highways DepartmentĆās proposals to construct two road under bridges (RUBs) to replace level crossings in Chennai's Annamalai Nagar and Wimco remain only in paper. Thiruvottiyur residents are irked over inordinate delay in taking up the RUB work which would cut down travelling time for the people living in western parts of the locality.
