In the present pandemic times when the headwinds to growth have exacerbated, the reform momentum has continued, and will continue in the future as well, said Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman while addressing the National MNCs Conference 2020 organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in New Delhi on Monday.
The Indian government is setting up logistic hubs near sea ports with private sector participation to address several challenges related to receiving shipments and also inland transportation of goods. The government is also trying to make electronic data interchanges at major ports that are completely under the control of the Central government.
India has invited members of the 22-nation League of Arab States to invest in the country, notably in the infrastructure space, while also calling upon them to benefit from the Â´Make in IndiaÂ´programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The new Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has asked the revenue department for a separate presentation on the proposed tax reform towards Goods and Services Tax (GST). Expenditure, revenue and disinvestment departments had made presentations to the minister on 28 May.
