The Centre has decided to fast-track 10 power projects worth Rs 90,000 crore planned by State-owned companies led by NTPC, which have been held up by land-related issues, identified in the Economic Survey as the biggest hurdle for stalled public sector investments.

NTPC has committed to add 10,000 MW through solar projects at RE-Invest - 2015, the first renewable energy global investment meet which was held in New Delhi. Rs.1 lakh-crore orders soon for power, mining equipment
The power and coal sectors will shortly issue orders worth over Rs 1 lakh crore for various projects, including four new giant power projects, according to Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Coal, Power and Renewable Energy.
NTPC mulls buying eight power plants
NTPC has identified seven to eight private power plants as potential acquisition targets. The company will take a final decision on them and make an announcement before 31 March, 2015.
Bidding for TN, Odisha UMPPs scrapped
The Power Ministry has scrapped the bidding process for two ultra-mega power projects of 4,000 MW each proposed to be built in Odisha and Tamil Nadu after all private players walked out, leaving State-run NTPC and NHPC as the sole contender for each project.
