LNG terminal in Mangalore
Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas M Veerappa Moily has stated that work on the new LNG import terminal at Mangalore will begin in next November. A feasibility study on the terminal is being carried out by a consortium of ONGC, BPCL, Mitsui and New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT). The planned LNG terminal is with a capacity of 2-3 million tonne per annum.
CNGs uniform price
The Union Government is to come out with a uniform Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) pricing across the country. The Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas is set to come up with a proposal in this regard, said a senior official concerned. The Ministry's plan is to pool in domestic and imported gas used by CNG networks across the country. The ministry is expected to finalise a mechanism for this within the next two months.
Govt launches portability scheme for LPG consumers
Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister M Veerappa Moily informed reporters that the government recently launched a pilot project of portability for LPG connections in Chandigarh. The project is aimed at enabling the customer, who is not satisfied with his present distributor, to shift his connection to another dealer.
