Public projects require subsidy
At the moment, we have two new projects. We are working on a project on semi-high speed train to improve the travel time between Delhi and Chandigarh. This involves our recommending ways to reduce the trip to two hours instead of the present four. We are also cooperating on stations. Stations are living spaces and not just places where people come and go.
Metro systems viable for large cities
Let me clarify that the term ´Smart City´ does not denote scale. We can have small Smart Cities and large Smart Cities, both successful. The Mass Rapid Transport System or MRTS is really meant for large cities which have the population and economic density to sustain such expensive infrastructure

The Central government approved Smart Cities Mission involves the development of one hundred smart cities in India. One of the most important elements of smart city infrastructure is economical and environment friendly mass scale rapid public transport system.

Oil Ministry saves 600 litres of fuel by using Metro rail
The Union Petroleum and and Natural Gas Minister Marpadi Veerappa Moily has said that his ministry alone can save about 600 litre of petrol and diesel worth over Rs 40,000 by travelling by public transport. He traveled by the Delhi Metro rail on October 9.
