GVK to exit Punjab power plant
GVK Power & Infrastructure is planning to sell its under construction 540 MW Goindwal Sahib power plant in Punjab to NTPC. The project expected to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2014-15, has a 25 year power purchase agreement with the Punjab State Power Commission.

L and T power plant operational
Larsen and Toubro (L and T) has begun commercial operations of its first 700 MW unit of the 1,400 MW supercritical thermal power plant at Rajpura in Punjab. The plant was constructed on a turnkey basis by L and T Power, with more than 90 per cent of the equipment sourced from group companies of L and T. The supercritical boiler and turbine were manufactured by L and TĂ´s joint venture companies with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI).
Three states to sign MoU on tricity metro project
Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) related to the ambitious metro rail project.
Recently, all the three stakeholders had agreed upon the terms and conditions of the MoU and the approval of the same was conveyed to the government of India.
Welspun to set up solar plant in Punjab
Welspun Energy (WEL) announced an MoU with Punjab government to set up solar power project of 150 MW capacity. WEL will invest over Rs 1,300 crore for this project over the next three years.
Punjabs road connectivity plans
Punjab governmentĂ´s Ă´Draft Master Plan 2031Ă´has elicited the wide range public opinion that better road connectivity of Chandigarh with Mohali and Mullanpur was the main concern of Punjab people. Hearing on the objections/suggestions pertaining to the draft Master Plan 2031 was held on 26 November. The Punjab government suggested that the road network should be strengthened by construction of additional roads.
Jalandhar-Amritsar highway to be widened at Rs 524 cr
For widening of Jalandhar-Amritsar section of National Highway in Punjab, the Union government on November 13 approved Rs 523.85 crore. The highway project will be taken up under the flagship road building programme, National Highways Development Project (NHDP) of the Union government.
Adampur in Punjab to have new domestic airport
In Punjab's Adampur, a new domestic airport would be established to facilitate the Doaba region, especially NRIs. This was announced by the State Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on November 8 after laying foundation stones of various development works in Jalandhar worth Rs 50 crore.
