Transport Ministry in safety push
The government is mulling ways of offering financial and other incentives in a bid to reduce fatalities on highways.
Private highway developers’ plea for relief
Citing the continuing economic slowdown that has impacted their projects, private highway developers are urging the Union government for maximum relief. Road builders like IRB, L&T, Reliance Infra, Ashoka Buildcon and Essel Infraprojects have started 16 premium projects and they want the government to allow rescheduling of annual premium payment.
Govt to ease norms for road builders
Seeking to attract developers to new construction projects the Union Roads Ministry has proposed easing norms for road builders. The Ministry has sent a note to the Cabinet Committee on Investment suggesting an early exit for road developers.
Call for transparency in toll collection
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has proposed to set up an independent regulatory body to monitor toll charged by private road builders on national highways.
