Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh informed that the state government earmarked Rs 1,900 crore as budget outlay for the urban development department.
Singh remarked that money would not be a matter when it came to take up development works in the urban localities and provide better civic amenities to the people.
It is learnt that the outlay for urban development has risen five times since the state came into being in November 2000. In 2000, the budget outlay for the urban development was Rs 400 crore, reports suggest.
The city contact programme launched by the state government to take the governance to the doorstep of people had also evoked good response. Under the campaign, the government officials are visiting each ward in the city limit and recording the grievances of the people related to civic problems.
It is learnt that the complaints received from the people had been made online. This would help the person to know the status of his complaint online instead of visiting the offices concerned.
The week long campaign that started on November 19 would also help the authorities to compile the statistics of the urban locality. During the campaign, the officials had been recording all the details required for the same.
