The Jharkhand government has finally acted and taken up the repair of the busy and important National Highway-33 in the state, which is dotted with potholes. Prolonged protests have been demanding repair of the highway. Road construction agency Madhucom Projects resumed work on the road on October 22.
Madhucom Company officials said a 20-km stretch on the highway between Chandil to Bhilaipahari will be repaired in the first phase of the project and subsequently the work would move to the Ghatshila-Chakulia-Bahragora stretch.
The monsoon and subsequent cyclonic conditions prevented the company from carrying out the repair work for several months.
