In Himachal Pradesh, process to acquire the required land to widen the 25 km Solan-Waknaghat stretch on Kalka-Shimla National Highway into four lanes has begun. The authorities concerned said that the land owners on either sides of the highway have been asked to submit the estimated cost of their land to be acquired for the four-laning.

The union Ministry of Road Transport and National Highway has completed all the needed procedures to acquire the land for the proposed 25-km highway and had issued a notification under Section 3(D) of the National Highway Act.

The union ministry had notified to acquire land of around 31 revenue villages between Solan and Waknaghat in the first phase.
