The State Government is planning to implement the Emergency Restoration System (ERS) and lay underground cables in the coastal areas to minimise the loss during natural calamities, especially cyclones. The objective of the programme is
to restore power supply within shortest possible (24 hours) time, besides ensuring safety and security of people, according to the State Energy Conservation Mission.
In view of the expected heavy rainfall in coastal areas, Ajay Jain, Energy Secretary, instructed the officials to implement a fool-proof mechanism and ensure an accident-free power system.
