To check call drop problem, regulator TRAI has started testing of mobile networks in Delhi and Mumbai to see if operators have taken measures to improve quality of services. TRAI has already floated a consultation paper on the issue proposing to compensate consumers for dropped calls. The regulator had also held discussions with top bosses of telecom companies on the issue. After meeting CEOs of telcos on September 9, the regulator had given 15 days time to operators for taking steps to address the problem.The regulator will conduct an open house discussion on the matter on October 1. The recommendations on call drops are expected to come by mid-October.
