Global motion tech major reinforces Atmanirbhar Bharat push with advanced bearings, condition monitoring, and localisation investments.
Schaeffler India, a leading motion technology company, is showcasing its latest portfolio of advanced bearing systems and industrial innovations for the railway sector at the 15th International Railway Equipment Exhibition (IREE) 2025, held from October 15-17 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
Through its participation, Schaeffler aims to deepen its engagement with Indian Railways and original equipment makers, reinforcing its commitment to localisation and technology-led infrastructure development in line with the central government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.
The company’s booth features a comprehensive range of railway and industrial solutions designed to enhance reliability, safety, and operational efficiency. These include TAROL bearings—compact, ready-to-mount tapered roller units for axle boxes—and CRU bearings, which offer high reliability and simplified installation for locomotive axles. Schaeffler is also showcasing current-insulated bearings for motors and generators, robust bearing housings for extended service life, and specialised lubrication greases that reduce friction and extend maintenance intervals.
Advanced sealing solutions, including Class C/D/K seals, are on display alongside Schaeffler’s condition monitoring display kit, which enables predictive maintenance through real-time diagnostics.
Senior leadership from Schaeffler’s global and Indian operations—including Michael Holzapfel, Global Sector Lead Rail Bearings & Industrial Solutions, and Seshan Iyer, President, Bearings & Industrial Solutions, Schaeffler India will be available at the exhibition.
“Schaeffler is proud to be a trusted partner for the rail sector worldwide,” said Harsha Kadam, CEO & Managing Director, Schaeffler India. “With expanded manufacturing and condition monitoring capabilities in India, we are positioned to support the evolving needs of operators and OEMs in one of the most dynamic rail markets globally.”
Iyer added, “Railways continue to be a critical growth driver in India’s infrastructure development. At Schaeffler, we are proud to contribute with advanced, localised, and future-ready solutions that improve reliability, efficiency, and safety.”
Schaeffler India has been steadily investing in its railway capabilities. The company recently commissioned a state-of-the-art TAROL heat treatment facility at its Maneja plant, developed to meet the evolving requirements of the rail industry and support India’s infrastructure ambitions.
With five manufacturing plants, three R&D centres, and a nationwide aftermarket network, Schaeffler India continues to strengthen its position as a key technology partner in India’s mobility ecosystem.
