India’s hosting of the meet signals its growing aviation leadership and push for stronger regional safety standards.

In a significant milestone for aviation safety and international collaboration, India will host the Asia Pacific Accident Investigation Group (APAC-AIG) meeting and workshop for the first time. The four-day event, organised by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, will be held from October 28-31 in New Delhi.

Union Minister of Civil Aviation Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu is scheduled to inaugurate the event, which will bring together approximately 90 delegates from International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) member states across the Asia-Pacific region, along with representatives from global aviation bodies.

Held annually, the APAC-AIG meeting serves as a platform for accident investigation authorities to exchange expertise, strengthen cooperation, and enhance regional capabilities in aircraft accident and incident investigation. This year’s edition will focus on improving investigation processes, reporting standards, and cross-border coordination.

The workshop segment, scheduled for October 28 and 29, will feature technical sessions led by officials from AAIB, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and international experts. The main group discussions will follow on October 30 and 31, with ICAO member states and Indian authorities deliberating on best practices and future frameworks.

Hosting of the APAC-AIG meeting by India reiterates its growing role in global aviation safety and its commitment to strengthening investigative infrastructure and regulatory alignment across the region.
