This expansion complements Akasa’s existing services from Guwahati and highlights its strategy of deepening access to high‑potential regions in the Northeast.
Akasa Air, India’s fastest-growing airline, has announced the addition of Dibrugarh in Assam as its 32nd destination, further strengthening connectivity to the Northeast. Starting February 1, 2026, the airline will operate thrice weekly direct flights between Dibrugarh and Bagdogra, along with through-flights linking Dibrugarh and Bengaluru via Bagdogra without aircraft change.
The expansion complements Akasa’s existing services from Guwahati and highlights its strategy of deepening access to high-potential regions. Dibrugarh, known as the Tea City of India, is a vital economic and cultural hub in Upper Assam and a gateway to neighbouring Northeastern states. Enhanced air access is expected to improve intra-regional mobility and support rising demand from both business and leisure travellers.
Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Akasa Air, said the launch reflects the airline’s long-term strategy of building a balanced and future-ready network. “Assam and the broader Northeast hold significant economic and cultural importance for India, and improved air access is critical to accelerating the region’s growth trajectory,” he noted.
The new services will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, linking Dibrugarh with Bagdogra and Bengaluru in a seamless through‑flight format. Flight QP 1850 will depart Bengaluru at 0525 hrs, arrive in Bagdogra at 0820 hrs, and continue onward to Dibrugarh at 0855 hrs, reaching at 1025 hrs.
The return service, QP 1851, will depart Dibrugarh at 1115 hrs, arrive in Bagdogra at 1245 hrs, and then proceed to Bengaluru at 1320 hrs, landing at 1625 hrs. This schedule is designed to improve connectivity between Assam, North Bengal, and southern India, offering travellers greater convenience and regional mobility.
